Meetings

The more regular activities of the society take place on the fourth Thursday evening of every month. BCGS meets jointly with Bond County Historical Society at 7pm in the Bond County Museum (U.S. DeMoulin Mansion, 409 S Fourth St, Greenville). All members and visitors are welcome to attend the monthly meeting and look forward to hearing or proposing a program of some sort. Members will often speak of their respective projects. Special program meetings and tours may take place at other locations and times, so follow our Facebook Page, listen to WGEL 101.7 FM, or subscribe to our Info Mailing List by sending us an email with that as your message.

Volunteer Opportunities

Have time to Give Back to the Genealogy Community? — Volunteer

All our positions are for unpaid member volunteers. We have no paid staff. If you are a member of BCGS and would like to become more active in our society and do more for fellow members and others researching their ancestry, consider volunteering for one of our roles. We’d love your ideas and energies in our corner. We have plenty of upcoming and continuing projects, both external and internal, to work on. Thanks for your interest and consideration!

Program Director

Do you enjoy arranging presentations and tours? Our members and friends love attending them, but we need to be able to offer varied experiences and do them more often! Help us visit more cemeteries, more historic locations, and hear from more genealogy experts on a wide range of topics and interests. Please contact us through the website’s email form.

Columnists

We always have a need for articles for The B.C.G.S. News e-newsletter. The articles should be of interest to our members and others doing family research in Bond County, IL. Please contact Rebecca Clausen, BCGS News Editor, at bcgs_editor @ sbcglobal.net if you would like to contribute an article.

Indexers

BCGS is always in need of people willing to index records, notebooks, and donated volumes in our library. Indexing makes research so much faster, easier, and complete. This work usually can be done in your own home. Please contact us through the website’s email form.
